A Week of Running and Adventure in VT

Posted on July 20 2013

CIMG5343My posting has been light this past week because I’ve been somewhat off-the-grid in the Northeast Kingdom of VT. I spent the week coaching and presenting on exercise physiology, shoes, form, etc. at the Craftsbury Marathon Camp (for adults) and had an absolute blast – much more to come on this experience in the coming week once I have both time and reliable internet access. In short, if you’re a runner who likes to work hard, learn a lot, and eat really good food, spending a week at this camp is like a dream vacation. Absolutely amazing!

As I write write this my friend Andy is about 5 hours into his running of the VT100 endurance run. I’m about to jump into my car for the 2.5 hour drive south to meet him at the 70 mile aid station at Camp Ten Bear (he’ll be there sometime between 3:30 and 8:30 – windows are large in 100 milers!), after which we’ll hopefully run through the night to the finish line (this will be my first pacing job, and my sole goal is to get him to the finish in one piece).

It’ll be a quick turnaround with little rest as I have to be back up in Craftsbury for the start of the Master’s Running Camp at 4:00 Sunday. It’s been a whirlwind of a week with lots of miles mixed in – I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Life is good.
