Free hugs

Screen-Shot-2017-09-29-at-3.56.24-PM“After the tragic attack that took place at the Boston Marathon finish line in 2013, I knew there would need to be an outpouring of love at the next race. So, I set out to be a reminder of love in response to the hate-filled act that affected participants and spectators. Hugs have such an impact on runners because it gives them an emotional boost while running. Completing 26.2 miles hurts, no matter how prepared you are to run it. But having someone out on the course that gives you a smile and embrace could lift your spirits, even if just for a brief moment. Some have emailed me to say that boost helped get them across the finish line. Giving hugs during the race was truly a unique experience. It was amazing to see so many spectators cheer so loudly as I approached. Many reached out for hugs and thanked me for the inspiring them.” – HOKA fan and Free Hugs Project founder Ken Nwadike
