Warding off old age
Posted on April 15 2017
“I believe that my life started at 70. Since I turned 70, I have gold-medaled numerous times for the Masters category in sprint distances, and I have had two novels published. I started running seriously in my late 60s. It is a great way to stay in shape and exercise. I was nicknamed by one of my college baseball coaches (I played center field at Cal Berkeley) ‘Motorbutt’ because I could run fast enough that he accused me of having a motor in my butt. I wanted to prove that ‘Motorbutt’ is still ‘Motorbutt.’ If I can maintain speed as I get older, I feel as though I am warding off inevitable old age. It makes me feel younger.”- HOKA fan Allen Mindell
